african body modification project

lets set things straight because i hate getting comments that are bashing my video..

this was a project i did for school.
i had a developing nations class and the topic was “choose something about a developing nation”.. so i chose body modification.
it starts out saying that americans do it, and so does africa…
then goes on to show pictures of africans with scarification and paintings on their body such as we do in america.

if you have a problem with the video, i’d rather not hear it. it’s not supposed to be professional. it wasnt meant to please anybody. it was made for school, and my classmates like it more than i thought they would, so i left it up on the internet after my presentation.

also, i’m sorry i mispelled ‘gauges’
i didnt put THAT much effort into it.
i really wasnt supposed to.

and lastly.. i got an A.
so i’m happy with it.
and thats all that matters.

    Africa isn’t a nation, its a continent.

And we do it because it’s what’s right for us. We don’t say anyone else has to, it’s what we want out of life. We have the right to live, just as you do.

(the comment is just being said generally, except for the first part)

Mommyuser, in my culture and many Southeastern Native cultures, facial tattoos were marks of achievement. The tradition is coming back, although modified somewhat. I’ve seen some older Mvskoke (Creek) people with the old clan tattoos on their chins.

  25. I’m Eastern Band …
I’m Eastern Band Cherokee, and we did quite a few mods even during European colonization in the South. Earlobe cutting, stretching, nose piercing, various tattoos. The tattoos have a lot of meaning though, and the cut or stretched lobes are a mark of distinction. Average men & women just wore a LOT of earrings–sometimes 18 or 20 in one ear alone.
